Emporia’s railroad crossing at Commercial Street has reopened to traffic.
The crossing was closed Monday, Tuesday and early Wednesday for unspecified repair work. This also ends the detour taking heavy trucks from Commercial to Prairie.

Separately, the Lyon County Highway Department briefly closed part of a road in northwest Lyon County. Road 215 has now reopened from Road F-5, or Americus Road, east to Road H-5.

At least as of 5 am, Commercial Street remains closed at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe crossing.
The Commercial Street crossing has been shut down since Monday morning for unspecified repairs and maintenance. There is currently no word on when it will reopen.
When the closure was first announced last week, the initial plan was to detour heavy truck traffic to Merchant Street. The signed detour now takes those trucks west to Prairie Street.

Meanwhile, The Lyon County Highway Department has closed part of a road in northwest Lyon County.
Road 215 is now closed from Road F-5, or Americus Road, east to Road H-5.
The nature of the road repairs and the estimated timetable for completion has not been announced.
