The Emporia State volleyball team went 2-0 on Thursday to run its winning streak to seven. The Lady Hornets beat East Central to start the day with a dominating 25-12, 25-12, 25-15 dismantling of the Tigers. ESU outhit ECU .306 to -.065 and had 42 kills to just 15 for the Tigers. Delainee Dexter led the offense with 10 kills with 16 assists while Brailee Bogle had 20 assists. Southwestern Oklahoma State provided significantly more resistance, but the Lady Hornets came through with a 25-23, 25-23, 25-17 victory to sweep two foes from the Great American Conference. ESU jumped out to an 8-3 lead and didn’t trail in set one. The second set was tight but ESU used five-straight points to take control in the middle of the set before holding off a Bulldog charge late. ESU ripped off seven-straight points to start the third set on the way to a 9-1 run and SWOSU wilted after that. Dexter had 10 more kills and was matched by Lavra Krizanic. Emporia State (7-2) heads to Shawnee, Okla. for two matches on Friday.
