A preliminary hearing is tentatively coming early next month in a Lyon County case involving a charge of attempted arson.
Michael Roy Johnson, age 61 of Durham, Missouri, is set for a preliminary hearing Oct. 1 after his first official court appearance earlier this week. Court-appointed defense attorney Paul Dean has requested a delay due to court matters in Greenwood County that day.
Johnson is accused of trying to set an SUV belonging to somebody else on fire as part of an alleged incident Sept. 13. Besides attempted arson, Johnson faces single counts of criminal damage, criminal deprivation of property, driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic counts.
