Jayhawk Linn came in to Friday allowing just 13 points per game, but it was Olpe got off to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring three times en route to a 54-0 victory.
Abbott Bailey got the scoring started with a three yard rush 90 seconds into the game. Olpe would then capitalize on excellent field position after a blocked punt, capped off with a touchdown from Colton Redeker. Redeker would find the endzone before the first quarter ended with a seven yard reception from Brayden Lienemann.
The second quarter proved to be more troublesome for the Eagles as they were stopped on fourth down and had a turnover, each in Jayhawk-Linn territory.
Olpe would get back on track after a 26 yard touchdown pass from Lienemann to Eil Markowitz to give Olpe a 27-0 halftime lead.
Bailey would score again on the evening to start the third quarter for the Eagles, after a one yard touchdown rush. Markowitz would return a punt 60 yards to round out the scoring in the third quarter.
Olpe would get another touchdown from Markowitz in the fourth quarter, along with a touchdown by Cale Steffes with one minute remaining in the contest.
Bailey would lead Olpe in rushing with 78 yards, with Lienemann adding 111 yards through the air. Olpe’s defense held Jayhawk-Linn to less than 20 yards of total offense.
Olpe improves to 2-1 on the season, and will square up with Wabaunsee to begin district play next week.
Lebo 60, Waverly 14
Lebo has a young team in 2024 but the got a big win on Friday night in a 60-14 win over Waverly. Brock Hadley led Lebo with an efficient game at quarterback, throwing for 163 yards on 10-12 passing. Jaxon Grimmett had 13 carries for 100 yards in the win as the Wolves have won 2 in a row and are 2-1 on the season. Waverly falls to 1-2 on the season
