A first court appearance is coming next month in Burlington in a developing case involving charges of child rape.
John Anthony Borden, age 54, was arrested Sept. 18 and subsequently charged with two counts of rape. Documents posted to the Kansas District Court Public Access Portal say Borden is accused of raping a 7-year-old child between February 2023 and February 2024.
Borden’s first appearance is Oct. 1. Borden could face 25 years to life in prison, along with fines of up to $500,000, for each count if convicted.
