As work continues on Seventh Avenue between Garfield and Neosho, there is a new work zone coming next week for the Southeast Transmission waterline replacement project.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says the intersection of First and Market will close for up to a month starting next week as the city’s contractor finishes a “jack and auger bore” under the city’s storm sewer at that location. Torrens also says parts of First Avenue from the alley west of Market to the alley east of Market will also be either partially or totally closed during this part of the overall project.
Once crews get to Seventh and Neosho, work will go south to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks.
Southeast follows Peyton Street and the 24th and Prairie projects to improve service and reliability across town. Construction for the Southeast Transmission project could last into fall 2026.
