The Emporia State soccer team got two goals from Ella Favot on the way to winning their MIAA Opener 3-1 over Newman at Wilkins Field on Friday. The Lady Hornets tallied first with Favot and controlled the ball in the first half on the way to outshooting the Jets 10-3 at the intermission. The Navy & Red leveled the match on a penalty kick following an ESU foul in the box just five minutes into the second frame. With less than 10 minutes to go, Favot broke the tie on an assist from Megan Kephart who later scored to put the match away. ESU outshot NU 19-5 in the match. ESU (4-3, 1-0 MIAA) returns to action Sunday at Central Oklahoma.
