This is a big time for existing or prospective Medicare patients.
Annual notices of coverage have been mailed out and are either in hand or coming soon. Certified Senior Health Insurance Counselor for Kansas Karen Mayse, a regular guest on KVOE’s Morning Show, says anybody with a Medicare prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage health plan should play attention for potential changes in coverage, starting with premiums and other basic costs.
Another place to check: adjustments for health services.
Changes noted in the individual mailings will begin New Year’s Day, but Mayse says insurance companies can make adjustments at other times of the year — especially when it comes to prescriptions.
If you have questions about Medicare coverage, there are several public options:
*The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging will take individual appointments at the Friendship Center, 221 West Logan, and at several events in Lyon County. Residents can call the Area Agency on Aging office 800-432-2703 or the Friendship Center at 620-340-8001 with questions or to set appointments
*Newman Regional Health has a Medicare town hall from 5:30-7 pm Oct. 8 at the Bowyer Community Building.
*The flint Hills Senior Life Fair is coming Oct. 15 to the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building.
