Kathryn Wilkerson is departing SOS and taking over another longstanding Emporia nonprofit in the process.
Wilkerson has been named as the next executive director of the Walter S and Evan C Jones Foundation. She takes over for Sharon Tidwell, who recently retired, and will begin her new duties Nov. 3.
Wilkerson is currently the assistant executive director and a therapist at SOS, with prior experience with the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and Newman Regional Health. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Emporia State University and has been active in several community organizations, receiving the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year award last year for her efforts.
Wilkerson will lead day-to-day operations for The Jones Foundation, including financial management and strategic planning. She will also manage grants, implement the organization’s future vision and develop community engagement.
The Jones Foundation was established in 1974. It has been focused on offering educational and medical help for youths living in Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties.
