Emporia volleyball went on the road and won a three set thriller over Ottawa 3-2 on Thursday night.
The Lady Spartans won the first set 25-19 and the next set 25-15. Ottawa rallied to win the next set 25-22 and then won set four 25-16 to force the fifth and final set. It was Emporia who pulled away in final set 15-7 to win the match.
Emporia Tennis had some strong showings on Thursday at the Washburn Rural Invite:
- Chelsea Mendez & Alexa Tovar placed in first 1st place doubles
- Kali Keough placed 2nd in singles
- Peyton Chanley & Kinsley Hines had a 3rd place finish in doubles for EHS
Emporia soccer used a Brayden Sailer goal on a penalty kick, but ultimately earned an away 1-1 draw at Manhattan on Thursday night in double overtime.
