The Emporia Arts Council’s 2025-26 Performing Arts Series has launched.
Kicking off the series Wednesday night was the Rocket Man Show, a tribute to Elton John with renowned impersonator Rus Anderson playing the role of the enigmatic superstar himself. The night’s performance took viewers from the Granada to Elton’s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” world tour, which was fitting given the setting.
Anderson delivered an out-of-this-world performance for the jam-packed Granada audience Wednesday night, from his mannerisms to his wardrobe, some of which were actually owned by John himself, to the near-perfect resemblance to John’s own famous voice.
Now, one would expect nothing less than a top-notch performance from Anderson, who was handpicked by Elton John and David Furnish as John’s official body double for various projects on the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Not only was this the first performance in the EAC’s performing arts series for the year, but it was also a first for Anderson and his traveling band.
Up next for the Granada Theatre will be the legends of Classic Rock on October 16 at 7 pm. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit EmporiaKSArts.org or call 620-342-3342.
