A full hand was needed to count the number of touchdown passes from Brayden Grimmett to Octavian Dean tonight as the duo connected five times in Madison’s 64-16 victory over Northern Heights.
Grimmett and Dean would connect four times in the first half to give Madison a 28-0 lead into the closing moments of the first half before Northern Heights found the scoreboard. Height’s Cooper Woodrow would find Kelton Bish for a seven yard touchdown score, seconds away from the mid-game break.
The second half would start just as the first half had gone with Grimmett and Dean connecting on Madison’s first drive of the second half on a three yard passing touchdown. Grimmett would also find Corey Yowell for another score, while adding a 12 yard touchdown score to give Madison a 50-8 lead with 3:35 left to go in the third.
Just when Northern Heights needed it the most, they were able to sustain a drive capped off by a TJ Dean touchdown reception from Woodrow to draw to 50-18.
Madison however would respond with back to back rushing touchdowns from Cruz Leiser to secure the victory, 64-16 with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
Grimmett would finish 8/14 for 156 yards and six passing touchdowns, while adding another 58 yards and a score. Dean would lead all receivers with five receptions for 105 yards and five scores. Lieser, leading all rushers with 200 yards on 12 carries.
Woodrow led Northern Heights with 25/40 for 162 yards passing, his top receiver being Leo DeDonder who reeled in 13 receptions on the night.
Madison improves to 5-0 and will square up with fellow undefeated team Lyndon next week. Northern Heights(1-4) will face off with Yates Center.
Burlingame 36, Leb0 32
In a wild game, Burlingame got a big road win 36-32 on Friday night on the road at Lebo. It was a game that Burlingame raced out to an early lead, but the young Wolves rallied late to get within a score. Danny Cain had a standout game for the Bearcats, leading Burlingame with 23 carries for 140 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 115 yards passing. Lebo falls to 3-2 with the loss while Burlingame rises to 4-1.
