Discussed for weeks, QuikTrip has finally announced its official groundbreaking and reception for its new Emporia convenience store and gas station.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says the event will be from 12:30-2 pm Nov. 7. The event will also take place near the new roundabout connecting the Kansas Turnpike to Graphic Arts before a reception at the Flint Hills Technical College Student Commons. There will be a bus to transport people from the reception to the groundbreaking site.
Torrens says representatives from the city and QuikTrip will be on hand, as well as the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Emporia Main Street, Lyon County and Flint Hills Technical College.
The event will highlight the nearly 7,000-square-foot convenience store, but it will also celebrate the city construction and city-county support attached to the Flint Hills Crossing retail development, including a new street and roundabout connecting to existing roundabouts aiding traffic for Interstate 35, Kansas Turnpike and US Highway 50.
