The City of Emporia says a power pole replacement project will take place early next week in downtown Emporia.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says there will be work behind Bourbon Cowboy between 12:30 and 7 am Tuesday. Preparation work will actually begin Monday evening with open stalls in the city’s parking lot in the 600 block of Merchant getting blocked off at 8 pm and all remaining vehicles needing to move out by 10 pm. Both that lot and the east alley in the 600 block of Merchant will be closed overnight.
Along with those impacts, traffic signals at Sixth and Merchant will not be powered during this project. There will be temporary stop signs at that intersection. The signals at Sixth and Commercial will operate as normal.
