Another week leads to no change in algae bloom alerts for several area lakes.
In Emporia, King Lake and the Peter Pan Park pond remain in algae warnings, meaning a harmful algae bloom is either underway or expected.
In Osage County, Melvern Outlet River Pond remains in an algae watch, meaning a bloom is at least possible.
The affected lakes have been under some sort of alert through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for weeks, if not months.
Algae is harmful to people and potentially lethal for pets and livestock. More information is available online at kdhe.ks.gov/hab.
