Ground-level and below-ground infrastructure work continues in Emporia next week.
City Communications Manager Christine Torrens says there will be several impact zones as part of ongoing work for the Southeast Transmission waterline replacement project beginning late Tuesday night. Water service will be impacted into early Wednesday morning in several central-Emporia neighborhoods:
*Seventh from Chestnut to Walnut
*Chestnut from Fifth to Ninth
*Eighth from Walnut to West
*Walnut from Seventh to Eighth
This is part of an overall project to bring new and, in most cases, larger pipe from 12th and Chestnut to South and Carter over the next year.
Separately, the city says there will be street work at 12th and Prairie beginning Monday. This will involve lane shifts and occasional closures through late October.
