The Emporia State soccer team dominated the second half on the way to a 5-2 victory over Fort Hays State on Sunday at the ESU Pitch. The teams were tied 2-2 at the break with Ella Favot and Hailey Gancarz providing the first half offense for E-State. ESU scored to take the lead with less than a minute head of halftime only to let the Tigers find the equalizer 12 seconds later. It was all Lady Hornets in the second half with Avery Zimmerman putting the Black & Gold back on top less than three minutes into the second half. Ella Favot found her fifth goal of the year to provide insurance and Sammy Quiroz scored late. Favot credited her teammates for her offense.
Head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn had high expectations for her freshman from Canada.
Emporia State (6-3, 3-0 MIAA) has won four in a row and return to the road Friday at Pittsburg State.
