The USD 253 Emporia Board of Education has its regular meeting this week.
Board members could approve a health insurance package as part of their business. The board has in front of it a partially-self-funded model through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas. Plan details don’t change for employees, but premiums could go up 12 percent. This follows several weeks of discussions about whether to stay with a full-pay plan or shift to a self-pay model.
In other business, board members will get a presentation on a Keys to Beginning Reading program as part of the district’s structured literacy approach. The board will also have an executive session to evaluate Superintendent David McGehee after a report by McGehee and reports from board members.
The meeting is at Mary Herbert Education Center starting at 6 pm Wednesday.
