Applications are coming in as Emporia State’s Presidential Search Committee continues its work.
Committee Chair Jim Kessler tells KVOE News the search is off to a good start.
The Search Committee is working with an external consulting firm, CBIZ, to find qualified candidates to replace Ken Hush, who is retiring by mid-December.
Kessler says developments are tracking on schedule, and he says there is some urgency to finding the university’s next leader.
Kessler has said ESU’s next president should be “business-minded, student-centered and community-minded” while also focusing on academics.
The next committee meeting will be virtually on Oct. 21. There will also be an in-person meeting Nov. 1, where the field will be trimmed to seven for “airport interviews” in Kansas City. Of that list, five will be submitted to the Kansas Board of Regents for consideration and another round of interviews. The goal is to have a new president named by early to mid-December.
