As the federal government shutdown approaches it second week in effect, local impacts are starting to evidence themselves.
CareArc Marketing Manager Justin Ogleby says the Lyon County WIC office will close Monday and will remain closed until further notice.
Ogleby says Lyon County is working with the Johnson County Health Department on new certifications and recertifications during the local closure. Lyon County staff are also working to issue benefits and to schedule appointments for later dates. WIC participants are asked to keep their appointments and use their benefits because food benefits have not been affected so far.
Residents with questions can call the Kansas Department of Health and Environment at 785-296-3683 or the Johnson County Health Department at 913-715-5000.
