SOS is wrapping up its three-year grant partnership with Michelin with a big financial bang.
Michelin is granting SOS over $77,000. Executive Director Mickey Edwards says it’s a significant donation for several reasons beyond the initial dollar amount.
Friday’s announcement brings the total Michelin donation to over $270,000. Edwards says SOS has been frugal with the funding, focusing early benefits on security and services.
Funding from Michelin stems from the company’s annual charity golf tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, and comes as SOS continues seeing reduced grant funding from state and federal levels of government.
Edwards tells KVOE News the SOS plan is to stretch the grant funding for at least the next six to seven years.
