Whether there will be discussion and action on a new permanent president is to be determined, but the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas Board of Directors has added an agenda item on possible nuclear power near Emporia.
Board members will consider a letter of support related to the partnership between Evergy, the Kansas Department of Commerce and TerraPower for the potential of a brand-new Natrium reactor. Site conversations are getting started. If the project moves forward, a Natrium plant could offer complementary power to the energy currently being generated at Wolf Creek.
Wednesday’s meeting also includes comments from Board Chair Jeff Williams and Interim President Lyle Butler before an executive session, tentatively listed as an action item for unspecified matters. Other unspecified business is also set for discussion.
The meeting is at 7 am Wednesday at the Trusler Business Center.
