The Kansas Department of Agriculture has announced cost-share assistance for commercial feedlots and dairy operations looking to increase their water efficiency.
The Ag Department’s Division of Conservation has its Livestock Water Efficiency Project now underway, designed to encourage water conservation and address ongoing water supply issues. Cost-share funding — up to 75 percent for technology costs maxing out at $50,000 — can set the stage for feedlots and dairy operations to upgrade their watering equipment, water controls and water recycling systems.
Ranchers can apply between Wednesday and Nov. 14. Eligible applicants need a current livestock water right with the state. Any equipment purchases or subscriptions made before applications are approved will not be eligible.
Funding comes from the State Water Plan Fund.
