Equipment will be moved later this week, but Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Amie Jones says everything else is in place for the county’s special offsite voting day this weekend.
Activities will be at the Lyon County Extension Office on Saturday simply because the Fairgrounds Anderson Building was already booked.
Lyon County’s offsite voting event will be from 9 am to 1 pm. Jones says all Lyon County registered voters are encouraged to vote offsite if they are ready to cast their ballots.
During Monday’s interview, Jones also clarified policy for write-in candidates — especially who will be elected if there aren’t enough candidates who filed for a given position or if nobody filed. And this involves several positions on the Lyon County ballot, including Admire City Council, Allen City Council and Neosho Rapids City Council
Monday is the deadline for write-in candidates to file the necessary affidavit at the County Clerk’s office inside the Lyon County Courthouse. Voter registration for this cycle ends at 5 pm Tuesday. Advance mail ballots go out to over 300 residents Wednesday.
Monday’s appearance on KVOE’s Morning Show is the second in a five-part interview series giving more information about the election and its processes. Our next interview with Jones will be at 8:45 am Oct. 20, focusing on mail ballot procedures.
