An Indiana woman was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment following an injury accident on Interstate 35 late Tuesday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2004 Ford F250, driven by 60-year-old Melba Covel of Loogootee, Indiana, was traveling northbound on I-35 at mile marker 128, near the Prairie Street overpass in Emporia, when a trailer she was hauling began to swing out of control. The vehicle then left the roadway and entered the grass median, overturning onto its passenger side and coming to a rest in the southbound inside lane.
Covel was taken to Newman with suspected minor injuries and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
