It hasn’t been scheduled, but it has been funded.
The Kansas Legislative Coordinating Council has approved $460,000 to fund a special legislative session as officially requested by Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach. If passed by the Legislature, topics include redrawing the state’s Congressional boundaries and overriding a recent gender marker ruling for state drivers licenses.
Numerous Republicans, including gubernatorial candidates, were calling for a special session on the Congressional boundaries before the Kansas Supreme Court decided against reviewing the case of Kansas v Harper, connected to Senate Bill 180 disallowing transgender residents from changing their genders.
As it currently stands, the Legislature isn’t set to return to session until Jan. 12.
