Another year and another successful Flint Hills Senior Life Fair.
The fair took place, once again, inside the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building Wednesday morning and afternoon, welcoming hundreds of seniors from across the local area as well as nearly 40 vendors. Longtime organizer Jon Reed says this year was a year of growth, noting that they have averaged between 30-32 vendors in the past.
He says they had a bit of a new look to this year’s layout, which he believes helped add to the experience.
In addition to the various vendors offering information on healthcare, end-of-life planning, retirement communities and more, participants were able to enjoy a barbecue lunch, register for giveaways, enjoy live music and comedy from local comedian and KVOE personality Tagan Trahoon.
Reed says they have already begun a waiting list for vendors for the 2026 life fair, adding he anticipates the format will look a bit different in terms of the demographics they are trying to reach.
Once again, the Life Fair included free transportation courtesy of Lyon County Area Transportation, with committee members also reaching out to neighboring community transportation agencies to provide free rides to residents outside of Emporia.
