One person was hospitalized after an injury crash on the Kansas Turnpike in far northeast Lyon County late Tuesday night.
Troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol say the wreck happened at mile marker 151.2 northbound, nearly 25 miles northeast of Emporia, and developed around 11:50 pm. For unlisted reasons, an SUV driven by 19-year-old Elizabeth Mannel of Liberal was rear-ended by a car driven by 46-year-old Chester Wood of Kansas City, Missouri, sending both vehicles into a nearby ditch. Mannel’s vehicle then rolled at least once.
Mannel was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries. Wood suffered possible injuries, but the Highway Patrol crash log does not indicate him going to a hospital for treatment.
