Emporia Fire responded to a small fire inside the Hill’s Pet Nutrition plant early Thursday.
Fire crews were dispatched to the 400 block of South Weaver shortly after 4 am following a fire alarm. Fire crews found sprinklers going off and eventually found a large air compressor on fire. The sprinkler system put the fire out.
No injuries have been reported and no evacuations were needed. There were also minimal disruptions reported for the overnight work flow. A cause is to be determined. There is no evidence of the fire spreading to any other areas of the plant.
