A Cottonwood Falls hotel and restaurant has received state honors for its outstanding contributions to the area.
Grand Central Hotel and Grill was honored for Main Street Momentum during the Kansas Department of Commerce “To the Stars: Kansas Business Awards.” The award recognizes businesses “continuously working to improve their main street districts by revitalizing buildings and neighborhood commercial districts through growth or engagement.” Grand Central opened under the current name in 1995 after time as The Cottonwood Falls Hotel and The American Hotel.
This year had a record in over 430 nominations in 11 different categories. The event also honored Grey Snow Management Solutions for winning the Governor’s Award of Excellence and GeoProbe Systems as the Governor’s Exporter of the Year. Marci Penner, the executive director of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, and entrepreneur and philanthropist Emerson Carey Sr were officially recognized for their inductions into the Kansas Business Hall of Fame enshrined at Emporia State University.
