Showers and storms didn’t bring any severe weather Friday night, but they brought brief heavy rain, isolated small hail and enough lightning to suspend at least one high school football game.
Storms suspended the Chase County-Northern Heights football game late in the third quarter with Chase County ahead 42-24, following a prior lightning delay. The game will resume at 3 pm Saturday. The game was our Area Game of the Week on Country 101.7 FM, and coverage resumes at 2:55 pm.
Small hail also fell briefly at Welch Stadium as the Emporia-Spring Hill football game ended. Spring Hill won that game 43-0.
For rain totals, the KVOE studios got 0.30 inches, while the Emporia Municipal Airport got 0.02 inches. Other totals:
*800 block Lawrence: 0.30 inches
*1100 block Constitution: 0.35 inches
There is a slight chance of a shower or storm Saturday afternoon. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s Saturday, followed by a sunny and dry Sunday with highs in the mid-60s.
If you have rain totals, message the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 620-342-5863.
