Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7957 opened its doors to the community Saturday.
A special open house gave residents a chance to tour the building at 302 South Commercial and learn more about the club. Post spokesman Gary Post says there was one reason why he joined the post and he stays involved:
Post says residents may have a better sense of the community involvement aspect of veterans groups after The Wall That Heals appearance in Emporia earlier this year. He also encouraged veterans to get involved for several reasons.
With the Emporia Community Foundation’s Match Day fundraising window now open, the post encouraged current and prospective Match Day donors to attend. It also encouraged law enforcement and first responders to tour the building.
