Things went just about purrfectly for the third annual Black Cat Ball on Saturday.
The event has become a signature event on the community calendar for the Street Cats Club, which has been working for over five years to improve the lives of feral cats and keep the stray cat population from exploding. Street Cats founder Victoria Partridge thanked the core of volunteers and an increasing list of sponsors for helping the club.
Support is needed because the club is constantly busy. Through September, the club has processed almost 350 spay and neuter requests, facilitated over 80 foster intakes and helped with almost 70 adoptions. Partridge says the club is working more to meet the spay and neuter demand.
The Black Cat Ball featured a silent auction, dinner from Gourmet to Go, signature drinks, tarot card readings and a costume contest. It also saw ticket sales jump. Partridge says ticket sales were triple the numbers from last year, in part due to increased advertising and in part because people are coming to expect it on the October calendar.
