A pair of tabled matters are both set to come before Lyon County Commissioners during their regular action meeting Thursday morning.
The first will be a letter of support from IdeaTek, which is seeking a Kansas Office of Broadband Development Broadband Acceleration Grant to fund a rural network build-out in Thorndale. The deadline for the grant application is next Friday, October 31.
Also, commissioners will reconsider approving a construction engineering oversight fee for Driggs Design Group for a total of $9,300 and a request for a low bid from KBS for the construction of the
shooting range and dirt preparation for the Lyon County 911 Dispatch and training center for just over $1.5 million. If approved, both contract matters would be paid for out of Capital Outlay dollars.
Separately, but related, commissioners will consider a resolution from Lyon County Controller Dan Williams requesting the public building commission to issue revenue bonds for financing of the emergency communication center and shooting range.
Both the IdeaTek and 911 facility matters were tabled in the last three weeks, with the contract matters being tabled twice, with a lack of detailed information being the main concern expressed by commissioners on both matters.
In other business, commissioners will consider signing a letter of support for the siting of the TerraPower Natrium reactor project. The county is the latest entity to consider the item after it was approved by both the City of Emporia and the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas last Wednesday.
In other matters, commissioners will consider a trio of requests from County Engineer Wayne Scritchfield and receive a presentation regarding recent food data from Jessica Reth of the Lyon County Food and Farm Council.
The meeting will begin at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
