A traveling exhibition with a strong tie to the founding of America will be traveling through Emporia and the Lyon County History Center in 2026. The exhibit is called “Declaration 1776” and is in partnership with the Emporia State University School of Humanities and Social Sciences. LCHC Executive Director Greg Jordan was a guest on the KVOE Morning Show this week, and explains how the exhibit came to be and when it will be in Emporia.
Jordan says that the exhibit will take a deep and introspective look at the formation of the Declaration of Independence, and explains what else it will entail as a part of the exhibit.
The exhibition comes from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and will tour 47 Kansas cultural institutions including LCHC in Emporia in 2o26. Again, the exhibition will be from May 23- June 21 in Emporia at the Lyon County History Center. For more information, call 620-340-6310.
