Homecoming activities are fast approaching at Emporia State University.
Activities begin Thursday night with the opening performance of The Rocky Horror Show through ESU Theatre. Performances will be Thursday through Saturday, followed by performances Oct. 29-Nov. 1. All performances, save for a midnight event on Halloween, will start at 7:30 pm.
ESU soccer has a tailgate at 11 am Sunday, followed by a home game against Nebraska-Kearney at 3 pm.
A Stinger Showdown is planned for 5:30 pm Monday on the Plumb Hall Lawn. Students, faculty and staff are showing pride in their academic programs.
Tuesday has a Homecoming Royalty meet-and-greet at 11:30 am at the Memorial Union Mainstreet area, followed by an FSL Construction evening activity at 6 pm at the Student Rec Center.
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Blue Key Society will present the 13th annual Sam and Jeannene Hayes Lecture. 1998 biology graduate Dr Muhammad Nashatizadeh, a neurologist and neurohospitalist with the University of Kansas Health System and School of Medicine, will discuss how his career in medicine has shaped his leadership approach.
Oct. 30 features the Student Alumni Board tricycle races at 7 pm at Wilson Park before the bonfire and Hornet Rally at the park at 8 pm.
The Phi Delta Theta Pole Sit fundraiser for SOS begins Oct. 31 before the Athletics Hall of Honor Lunch at 1 pm at the Memorial Union KSTC Ballroom and the Black and Gold Gala starting at 5:30 pm at the Memorial Union Webb Hall.
Homecoming culminates Nov. 1 with an alumni breakfast, guided campus tours, Live at the Hive starting at noon, the football game against Northwest Missouri at 2 pm and the Phi Delta Theta dinner at 7 pm at Casa Ramos.
