The Lee Beran Recreation Center will be closing its indoor pool for a time at the start of next month for needed repairs.
According to Emporia Recreation Commission Marketing Manager Shalla Bennett, the pool will be closed starting November 12th to allow for the replacement of a drainage pipe, which has reached its end of life. The replacement will take place under the pool deck.
According to rec center leadership, the project is expected to take two weeks to complete; however, the time frame could be shorter or longer depending on how smoothly the work progresses. Due to the work, classes and activities held in the pool will either be rescheduled or relocated on land if possible.
Updates and information to that end will be posted on the rec center’s website EmporiaRec.org and its various social media pages.
