Emporia State University’s Homecoming activities have several highlights, including the Sam and Jeannene Hayes Lecture this upcoming Wednesday.
On KVOE’s ESU Buzz on Thursday, ESU student and Blue Key Honor Society Hayes Lecture Chair Maria Sanchez, an international student from Colombia, said the appearance of ESU alum Dr Muhammad Nashatizadeh reflects some of her own journey at Emporia State.
Blue Key Honor Society advisor Cherie Crisp says Dr Nashatizadeh’s appearance continues a long tradition of impactful speakers through the Hayes Lecture Series.
The topic of Dr Nashatizadeh’s talk is “From Neurons to Networks: Learning, Leading and Helping Others.” He says leaders have to learn constantly.
Dr Nashatizadeh, an Emporia native, says Emporia State played a pivotal role in his growth and development from a college student to an adult.
Meanwhile, certain plans have already been divulged for the Black and Gold Gala on Halloween, including the Distinguished Alums to be formally recognized: Shirley Antes, Sean Bird, Joretta Duncan, Steve Harmon and Dr Marilee McBoyle-Wiesner.
