The #25 Emporia State volleyball team provided resistance but it came much too late in a 25-17, 25-15, 25-23 loss to #2 Washburn at Whiting Fieldhouse on Friday. ESU struggled to slow down the home team’s hitters as Washburn hit .326 for the match. and cruised to a 2-0 lead in the match. ESU’s offense woke up in the third to hit .481 in the frame with just two attack errors but it wasn’t enough as Washburn put the match away on their third match point. Emma Klett was the only Lady Hornet in double figures with 10 kills. The loss snapped E-State’s four-match winning streak. ESU (17-4, 8-2 MIAA) continues a five-match road swing on Halloween when they face Northwest Missouri.
Edit: The match was played in Whiting Fieldhouse, not Lee Arena. Lee Arena is under construction ahead of the 2025-26 basketball season.
