A preliminary hearing is coming next month for an Emporia man accused of drug distribution and battery on law enforcement as part of an alleged incident earlier this month.
Thomas Gary Lawrence, age 66, will return to Lyon County District Court on Nov. 4 after his first official court appearance Oct. 14.
Lawrence currently faces 11 total counts, including distributing up to 100 grams of methamphetamine, possessing marijuana and possessing paraphernalia. Lawrence also faces one count of battery on law enforcement, three counts of attempted battery on law enforcement and one count of interference with law enforcement as well as DUI and other traffic offenses as part of the alleged incident Oct. 9.
