The Emporia Arts Center’s Davis Theater was the perfect place to be with friends Friday night, just ask Janice Borla.
The renowned jazz vocalist brought some of her most talented musician friends to the theater for an intimate dinner and concert with close to 100 people. In addition to Borla, the evening featured guitarist Fareed Haque and vibist Brad Stirtz who have worked with Borla since the beginning of her career.
Also featured was percussionist Juan Pastor and bassist Gerald Spaits.
Friday night’s concert was the first performance inside of the Davis Theatre since it underwent recent renovation work and was also the first local concert from Borla since the passing of her husband and Emporia native Jack Mouse last year.
