The Emporia State soccer team came within 31 seconds of a shutout in a dominating 5-1 victory over Nebraska-Kearney on Friday at the ESU Pitch. ESU led 2-0 at the half on goals by Hailey Gancarz on a Megan Kephart assist and a Kephart score on an assist by Ella Favot. Favot later scored in the second half with Peyton Pipes also tallying in the second frame. Amy Paver scored her first career goal to cap the scoring for ESU. ESU outshot the Lopers 14-9 and had six more corner kicks. Head coach Jane Grimley-Gunn said it was the bounce-back performance she was hoping for after the team went 0-2 last week.
Gancarz said the performance started in practice.
