Major adjustments have been announced for a pair of activities scheduled to take place in downtown Emporia due to wet conditions in the forecast.
Due to forecasts calling for significant rainfall Saturday, Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow have canceled the Dia De Los Muertos parade, which was set to take place at 11 am in the 800 to 900 blocks of Commercial Street. The Dia de los Muertos celebration itself is still taking place; however, it will be moved indoors at Casa Ramos Mexican restaurant, located at 402 Merchant Street.
Activities will take place from noon to 2 pm and will still include a DJ, mariachi band, dancing and more.
Meanwhile, Emporia Main Street’s annual downtown trick-or-treating event and costume contest has been rescheduled to noon on Halloween. The event will run from noon to 2 pm ahead of the annual free screening of Hocus Pocus at the Emporia Granada Theatre. For questions or more information, please call Main Street at 620-340-6430 or visit their Facebook page.
