Believe it or not, the Unbound Gravel selection process for next year begins this weekend.
Also, believe it or not, next year marks two full decades of Unbound.
The event that started in the Farmers Market parking lot with under 40 riders now includes several race lengths, nearly a week’s worth of connected activities, close to 5,000 riders and at least double that number of vendors, family, friends and spectators. Longtime race organizer Kristi Mohn, now Marketing Manager for Life Time, says Unbound continues to exceed her original expectations.
The 2026 lottery begins Saturday. Once again, special consideration is in place for local riders, while people involved in the training camp also have automatic entry and people volunteering at least 10 hours can get entry for the following year. The lottery goes through Nov. 15 — just in time for the brand-new Unbound Gravel Backyard Bash behind Merchant Cycles. Mohn says this is the start of 20th anniversary activities.
Mulready’s Pub co-owner Meg Worthing is glad to be involved.
Worthing says Unbound has become a fixture in the community and a staple for downtown businesses.
On top of those activities, registration is officially open for Unbound’s 2026 Training Camp. The four-day camp will be April 9-12 and will include the long route for the Flint Hills Gravel event originating in Americus.
