Emporia Fire and Evergy handled a small fire that caused a small power outage Monday.
Fire crews were initially called to the 300 block of Homewood shortly after 3 pm following a tree-trimming incident. Fire Capt. Willie Ward says a person was trimming branches when one fell on a live power line, causing a small fire. Ward says the fire was limited to the tree and was put out quickly.
Evergy was called to the scene and handled the power restoration on site.
No injuries were reported.
