Lyon County Clerk and Election Officer Amie Jones is encouraging those who have yet to cast their ballots for the 2025 election cycle to get out and vote Tuesday.
Polls will open for voting at 7 am across Lyon County and will close at 7 pm. On the ballot this year are mayor, city council, city commission and school board positions, including three seats on the Emporia City Commission.
Election day follows the end of in-office advanced voting on Monday, which saw a roughly 3 percent voter turnout according to Jones.
Jones says local elections do tend to see a slower and slightly lower turnout at the polls than most other races. That said, she believes voter turnout could be right at, if not just above, the percentage from the 2024 cycle.
For those voting by mail, Jones reminds them they must have their ballots returned or postmarked by election day for them to be counted in the election. As for those needing additional information on polling sites, results and more:
