The Emporia State soccer team posted their third-straight shutout but couldn’t score in a scoreless tie at Moore Bowl in Topeka on Wednesday Night. ESU had to hold off first-place Washburn who outshot the Lady Hornets 15-7 in the match and had 10 corner kicks to just one for E-State. Megan Kephart had three shots including two on goal but couldn’t find the back of the net. Goalie Mackenzi Goen picked up seven more saves while defender Morgan Davis logged 90 minutes for the Lady Hornets. ESU finishes the regular season 8-5-5, 5-2-5 in the MIAA and has drawn their last three matches heading into the MIAA Tournament. The result prevented Washburn from claiming the regular season conference championship. ESU will be the No. 7 seed and will face their Turnpike Tussle rival on the road Sunday back in Topeka.
