Kansas City International and Wichita’s Eisenhower and Jabara airports are not included, but the Federal Aviation Administration says it is trimming flight capacity by up to 10 percent at 40 major airports.
ABC News says the list includes Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson, Boston Logan, all three New York City-area airports, O’Hare in Chicago, Love Field and Dallas-Fort Worth International in Dallas, Denver International and Los Angeles International.
At this time, there is some ambiguity on when cuts could start — either Thursday or Friday Flight reductions may start at 4 percent and work up to 10 percent between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm. The impact on international flights has not been announced by the federal government.
The decision is expected to cut hundreds to thousands of flights per day as the federal government shutdown continues, now for over a month. Air traffic controllers have been working without pay throughout the shutdown.
