Emporia’s Goodcents location is permanently closing.
According to signage posted on the business’s front door at 1002 East 12th Avenue, the local eatery is ending operations as of the close of business Friday night. The signage stated no reason for the closure and read as follows: “After many years of serving this community, this location is closing permanently. We are so grateful for your loyalty and kindness.”
The local sandwich shop has been in business in the local community for several decades and in addition to its menu, also offered a popular activity area with batting cages, mini-golf and a go-kart track. The batting cages and go-kart track were removed over a year ago to make way for a new Dollar Tree location, which opened to the public last November.
Further details, including causes of the closure, the number of workers employed by Goodcents, and future plans for the storefront, are all pending at this time. KVOE News has reached out to Goodcents for comment.
