The Emporia State volleyball team saved seven set points in the fourth on the way to a season sweep of #3 Nebraska-Kearney 15-25, 25-23, 25-23, 34-32 at the Health & Sports Center in Kearney, Neb. on Saturday. ESU got out of the gate slow again as UNK forced 11 Lady Hornet attack errors in game one, but ESU scored three-straight to end the second set and tie the match. E-State scored the final two to take a 2-1 lead after a tight third set before the Lopers couldn’t find a set point on seven tries in the fourth to give the Black & Gold the win. It is the second time the Lady Hornets have swept the Lopers in a season series and the first season sweep since 1977. Lavra Krizanic came up with clutch kills down the stretch to finish with 23 on the match while Boglarka Rady registered 25 digs. The Lady Hornets reverted to a one-setter system as Brailee Bogle logged a season-high 48 assists. ESU (20-5, 11-3 MIAA) returns to White Auditorium for their final homestand beginning Thursday hosting #7 Central Oklahoma. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
Edit: We referred to UNK’s home matches being played at the Health & Science Center by mistake. Their home is the Health & Sports Center since 1990.
